1. Acceptance and changes

By creating an account or using yumu (the website, your page, the Help center, the Shop, the Market and anything else we run under the yumu name, together “the service”), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

We may update these terms as the service changes. When we make a meaningful change we will note it in the dashboard's Updates tab and change the date above. Using the service after a change means you accept it. If a change is not acceptable to you, you can delete your account at any time.

2. Who can use yumu

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age in your country for using online services if that is higher. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you. You must not be barred from using the service by law, and you must not have been banned from yumu before.

If you use yumu for a business, band, brand or organisation, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms on its behalf.

3. Accounts and one account per person

Give accurate information when you sign up, keep your sign-in details and passkeys secure, and tell us if you think someone else has got into your account. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account, including by people you let use it. Don't sell, rent, lend, share or transfer an account, or its username, outside the ways yumu provides.

3.1 Alternate accounts (“alts”)

You may not create or keep more than one account. yumu allows one account per person. The only exception is an extra account made with an Extra account voucher, which allows one additional account per voucher. Vouchers are bought in the Shop or given by staff, are single use, and can't be sold or traded.

Accounts made with a voucher belong to the same person, who may switch between them from the dashboard. They must be used by that one person. You can't use extra accounts to get around a ban, a limit, a rule on these terms, the Market or the leaderboard, to give yourself extra votes, views, followers or badges, or to hold usernames you don't intend to use.

Creating accounts without a voucher, hoarding usernames across sign-in methods, making backup accounts, or signing up again after a ban will result in the removal of every account involved, with no refund. To enforce this we use a device identifier cookie and a one-way hash of the network address each account was created from (see the Privacy Policy). Using a VPN, proxy, emulator or a clean browser to hide that an account is yours is itself a violation.

4. Your content and our license

Your content is everything you put on or send to yumu: your name, bio, pictures, links, text, music, videos, fonts, backgrounds, templates, CSS, badges and anything else. You own it, or you have the rights you need to use it. You are responsible for it.

To run the service for you, you give yumu a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, reformat, display and deliver your content, and to show it to the people you publish it to, including in previews and link cards (such as Discord embeds), on the leaderboard, in the template gallery if you share a template, and in backups. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backups and copies that other people made from something you shared publicly, such as a template someone already used. We don't sell your content.

You may only upload or link to content you have the right to use. This includes music, images, fonts and video. Content you publish may be seen by anyone, so don't put anything in it you want kept private.

5. Acceptable use

You may not use yumu, or let your page be used, to do or show any of the following. This list is examples, not a limit; we decide in good faith what breaks the spirit of these rules.

Illegal and seriously harmful content

  • Anything that is illegal where you live or where we operate, or that helps someone break the law.
  • Sexual content involving anyone under 18, in any form, including drawn or generated. This is reported to the authorities and results in immediate permanent removal.
  • Sexual content or nudity shown to people who didn’t choose to see it, intimate images shared without the person’s consent, or sexual content that is not clearly age-gated where the law requires it.
  • Threats, incitement of violence, and content that promotes or glorifies terrorism, self-harm or suicide, or serious crimes.
  • Selling or promoting illegal goods or services, including drugs, stolen data or accounts, weapons where unlawful, counterfeit goods and hacking services.

Harassment, hate and impersonation

  • Harassing, stalking, bullying, doxxing or exposing private information about anyone, including by posting or linking to it.
  • Hate speech, or attacks on people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, caste, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or age.
  • Impersonating another person, a brand, a creator or yumu staff, including by copying their name, picture or badges in a way meant to mislead. Parody must be obvious from the page itself.
  • Pretending to be staff, using a badge, name or design that suggests an official role you don’t have, or falsely claiming to be verified.

Fraud, scams and malware

  • Phishing, scams, fake giveaways, fake wallets or payment pages, “free Nitro” and similar lures, or collecting passwords, keys, seed phrases, payment details or personal data under false pretences.
  • Malware, exploits, cryptojacking, credential grabbers, IP grabbers, or links and redirects meant to harm or deceive visitors, including hiding the real destination of a link.
  • Fraud, pyramid or pump-and-dump schemes, or soliciting crypto or money using a false identity or false promises.

Abuse of the service

  • Spam: mass sign-ups, bulk or repeated unsolicited messages, link farms, or pages whose purpose is to drive traffic to something else deceptively.
  • Creating accounts or pages to avoid a ban, a limit or a moderation decision.
  • Content that exists to harm our systems or other users, such as code or media that crashes, floods, or tracks visitors without their knowledge.
  • Using the service to collect other people’s personal information without a lawful reason.

6. Pages, links, custom CSS and domains

Your page is yours to design, but it runs on our service and is visited by other people. When you add custom CSS, fonts, music, video, embedded blocks or links, the same rules apply to them as to anything else you publish.

  • Custom CSS and fonts may restyle your own page only. Don’t use them to imitate the yumu interface, login or checkout, to hide or alter required notices (including the ad slot on free pages, or a ban or suspension notice), to cover links so they look like something else, or to disrupt the rest of the site.
  • Don’t use your page to redirect, trap or trick visitors, to auto-play sound or video in a way meant to annoy or alarm, or to flash content that could trigger seizures without warning.
  • A custom domain must belong to you or be used with the owner’s permission. It is a pro feature: if yumu pro ends, the domain stops serving your page until yumu pro returns. Don’t point domains at yumu to impersonate someone, or to mislead visitors about who runs the page.
  • You are responsible for the sites you link to. We don’t check them and can’t promise they are safe.
  • We may remove or disable a page, block or rewrite a link, or turn off a feature on your page, if we think it breaks these terms or puts visitors at risk.

7. Fair play: views, the leaderboard and badges

Views, the leaderboard and badges are meant to reflect real attention and real events. You may not inflate or fake them or help anyone else do so. That includes:

  • Bots, scripts, view-exchange schemes, refreshing or auto-opening your page, paying for views, or using other accounts to boost yours.
  • Using extra accounts, sharing accounts, or coordinating a group to push a profile up the leaderboard.
  • Exploiting a bug or loophole to get views, badges, yumu pro, vouchers or credits you did not earn or pay for. If you find one, report it instead.
  • Faking, editing or removing a badge or its meaning, or creating a custom badge that imitates an official one.

We may reset view counts, remove a page from the leaderboard, remove badges and take back anything gained this way, without notice or refund. Official badges are awarded by us and can be removed at any time. Custom badges must follow section 5 and must not impersonate staff, official badges or other people.

8. Usernames and aliases

Usernames are given first come, first served. Each account gets one free username change. A username is not your property: it is licensed to your account, and we may reclaim or change it for violations of these terms, impersonation, or a valid trademark or personal-name complaint.

Registering handles in bulk to resell them, or squatting a name only to block someone else, is not allowed. Aliases (extra handles that open your page) may change hands through the yumu Market (paid sales), or through in-app gift and trade flows in Inventory — never by releasing a name so a specific person can claim it, and never through outside deals. Reserved platform names are not eligible. A released handle stays reserved for its previous holder for seven days. A listed or in-trade alias is locked until that listing or trade ends.

9. Purchases, yumu pro and gifts

Paying

Payments are made in cryptocurrency directly from your own wallet. yumu never holds your funds. You must send the exact amount shown, on the network shown, to the address shown, within the time shown. We can't recover payments sent to the wrong address, on the wrong network, or in the wrong amount, though staff will look at any checkout flagged for review. Items are delivered once the payment is confirmed on the blockchain. Prices are in US dollars and converted to the coin at the quote shown, which is final.

No refunds

Blockchain payments can't be reversed, so all purchases are final and non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise. Don't buy anything you aren't sure you want. If something you paid for is not delivered, contact us with the transaction details and we will make it right.

yumu pro

yumu pro adds time to your account for the period bought and runs on its own clock; it never renews by itself. It unlocks the features listed on the yumu pro page. When yumu pro ends, your settings stay saved, but pro-only features stop applying to your page until yumu pro returns, and your own domain stops serving. Staff may grant yumu pro or take it back, and yumu pro granted by staff can be withdrawn.

Gift links

  • A gift link gives the first logged-in account that opens it and claims it a set number of days of yumu pro. It works once. After that, it cannot be reused or transferred.
  • Whoever holds an unclaimed link can claim it, so keep it private until you send it. We can’t take back a gift that someone has already claimed, and we are not responsible if a link you shared was claimed by someone other than the person you meant.
  • Gifts added to an account are time on that account. They are not money, can’t be exchanged for cash, and can’t be resold. Gifts bought in the Shop follow the no-refund rule above.
  • Staff may cancel an unclaimed gift link, and may remove yumu pro that was obtained through abuse, fraud, a chargeback-style dispute, or a violation of these terms.

Other items

Extra aliases, badges, custom badge credits, account vouchers and similar items are digital items that belong to your account, have no cash value, and can't be transferred except as we allow. They may be removed without refund if your account is suspended or terminated for breaking these terms. Custom badges must not impersonate staff, official badges or other people, and may be removed if they do.

We may change prices, add or remove items, and change what an item includes. A change doesn't affect a checkout that is already open or an item you already hold.

10. The Market

The Market lets users sell usernames (aliases) and templates to each other. yumu is only the venue and the payment tool: we aren't a party to a sale between a buyer and a seller.

  • Fees. For a sale, the seller’s share is paid straight to the seller’s wallet and yumu’s fee to yumu. The fee is 20% of the sale price, or 10% when the seller has yumu pro at the moment the buyer starts checkout. The split shown at checkout is final.
  • Sellers are responsible for what they list, for having the right to sell it, for accurate descriptions, and for any taxes on their sales. Listings can’t be misleading, can’t break section 5, and can’t sell something you don’t own or that another person’s trademark or name rights make unlawful.
  • Templates sold on the Market license the buyer to use the design on their own page. They may not be republished, shared or resold. A paid template you bought can’t be republished as your own.
  • Username sales move an alias from the seller’s account to the buyer’s. We may reverse, block or cancel a sale we reasonably think involves fraud, abuse, a stolen account, a trademark complaint, ban evasion or a breach of these terms.
  • We may remove listings, hold or review a sale, and close the accounts of people who abuse the Market, including fake listings, shill buying, wash trading, and attempts to avoid the fee.

11. Advertising

Free pages may show advertising served by third parties. yumu pro pages never show advertising. You agree not to block, hide, cover or tamper with an advertisement or its slot on your page by CSS or any other means, or to generate fake clicks or impressions.

12. Security and automated access

  • Don’t try to gain access to accounts, data or systems that aren’t yours, test or probe our security without permission, overload the service, or interfere with how it works.
  • Don’t scrape, crawl or copy the service, other people’s pages or our directory of profiles in bulk, or use bots and scripts, except through interfaces we publish and within their limits.
  • Don’t reverse engineer or copy the service to make a competing product, or attempt to circumvent rate limits, passkey checks, sign-up checks or any other protection.

If you find a security problem, tell us privately through our Discord server before you share it. If you report it honestly, don't access more data than needed to show the problem, and give us reasonable time to fix it, we won't take action against you.

13. Enforcement, suspension and appeals

We want to keep yumu safe and fair, and we decide what is a violation. Depending on how serious it is, whether it is a repeat, and the risk to others, we may do any of the following, with or without warning:

  • remove or hide content, a link, a badge or a username, or turn off a feature on your page;
  • reset view counts, remove you from the leaderboard, or take back items, yumu pro or credits that were gained through a violation;
  • suspend your account (it is locked, and your page shows a suspension notice, with a reason if we choose to give one);
  • permanently close your account and any related account, and block the devices or networks used to sign up again;
  • report content or conduct to law enforcement, to platforms we depend on, or to the affected people, where we think it is needed or the law requires it.

Suspended and terminated accounts may not be deleted, so that a ban can't be avoided by deleting the account. Items, yumu pro and balances on those accounts are forfeited without refund. Creating a new account to return after a ban is a new violation.

If you think we made a mistake, tell us through our Discord server with your username and what happened. We review appeals in good faith but we are not obliged to reverse a decision, and we may not be able to explain every detail of how we found it.

14. Copyright and takedowns

We respect other people's rights. If you believe content on yumu infringes your copyright or another right, contact us through our Discord server with: your name and contact details; what you say is infringed and where it is (the page link); a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use isn't authorised; and a statement that your information is accurate and that you are the owner or are authorised to act for them. We may remove the content, tell the person who posted it, and give them the chance to respond.

Repeat infringers will have their accounts closed. If you believe content of yours was removed by mistake, you can send us a counter-notice with the page link, a statement why you have the right to use it, and your contact details.

15. Our property

yumu, its logo, design, code, official badge artwork, the Help center and the service itself belong to yumu or its licensors and are protected by law. We give you a limited, personal, revocable permission to use the service as these terms allow. You may not copy, sell or reuse our property except where we say you can, for example by using the badges and templates on your own page.

If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.

16. Third-party services

yumu connects to other services, for example Discord (sign-in, presence and bot features), Spotify, music and video sources, blockchain and price data providers, and advertising providers. They have their own terms and privacy policies, and your use of them is your responsibility. We aren't responsible for what they do, for outages, or for data you give them. We may add or drop a connection at any time. When you connect an account, you allow us to read the information needed to show the feature you turned on.

17. Disclaimers and liability

yumu is provided “as is” and “as available”. We work hard to keep it running and safe, but we don't promise it will always be available, error-free, secure or that content will never be lost, so keep your own copy of anything important. We don't endorse, and aren't responsible for, content posted by users, links to other sites, or what other people do on the Market.

To the fullest extent the law allows, yumu and the people who run it are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, loss of data, profits, views, followers, reputation or usernames, or for losses caused by cryptocurrency price changes, blockchain delays or errors, wallet mistakes, third-party services, or other users. Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid yumu in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50 if you paid nothing. Some places don't allow these limits, so they apply only as far as the law allows. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.

You agree to defend and compensate yumu and the people who run it against claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) that come from your content, your use of the service, your Market listings, or your breach of these terms or someone else's rights.

18. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Deleting removes your page, links, badges and uploads. A confirmation is sent to your email first. We may stop or limit your access, or close your account, as described in section 13, or if your account has been inactive for a long time, or if we have to for legal reasons. We may also change or end the service. Sections that by their nature should survive (including ownership, our license to copies that already exist, fees owed, disclaimers, liability, indemnity and disputes) continue after your account ends.

You can't delete an account while someone is in the middle of buying from you, until that sale settles or your listings are cancelled.

19. General terms

  • These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and yumu about the service and replace anything earlier.
  • If part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest stays in force. If we don’t enforce something right away, we haven’t given up the right to later.
  • You can’t transfer your rights under these terms. We can transfer ours, for example if the service is sold or moved to a new owner.
  • These terms are governed by the laws that apply where the operator of yumu is based, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be handled in the courts there, unless a consumer protection law where you live says otherwise. Before starting a claim, please contact us so we can try to fix it informally.
  • We may contact you by email or in the dashboard about your account, security, purchases and changes to the service.

20. Contact
